Is GridSmart a fit for your home?

EV Charging Installers of America is a PSE&G GridSmart Participating Contractor. We review eligibility, design and install the battery system, and submit the authorized program application on your behalf.

  • Electric service mattersPSE&G residential electric or dual-fuel customers may qualify. PSE&G gas-only service is not enough.
  • New installation, current account historyCurrent terms require at least 12 months of billing history at the enrolled address. Previously installed and leased batteries do not currently qualify.
  • Not sure? Tell us.We confirm the account, AMI meter, Wi-Fi, approved equipment and site requirements during review. No photos or utility bills are needed to start.
What happens next: Our team reviews every request. We aim to send a first response within one business day. Your request is not PSE&G approval, enrollment or a funding reservation.

Outside the program or planning a commercial system? Ask about a general battery assessment. We do not treat a ZIP-code match as proof of utility eligibility.

A clear installation and application path

One electrical plan. A defined next step.

The rebate is only one part of the decision. We connect backup priorities, equipment selection, permitting and the actual program requirements.

Current program equipment

Approved options—not a one-size-fits-all package.

PSE&G's current FAQ identifies these battery options. Final model, configuration and installation eligibility are confirmed against current program requirements before the proposal is finalized.

Evaluate the battery and electrical integration against your backup priorities, installation conditions and any existing solar.

Enphase 10C

Review the approved system configuration, compatible controls and the home's electrical and backup requirements.

Enphase 5P

PSE&G currently requires at least two 5P batteries for the program. We verify the final eligible configuration before ordering equipment.

Understand the commitment

Backup power with program responsibilities.

We explain the operating and repayment terms before you decide. The current rules below are a summary, not a substitute for the official agreements.

Dispatch and connectivity

Current terms provide for up to 100 GridSmart Events per year, up to four hours each, and an 84-month program-control term. Your battery powers your home to reduce grid demand; participation is not a promise of grid-export income.

Wi-Fi connectivity and permitted program access must be maintained. PSE&G uses commercially reasonable efforts for event notice and the stated reserve. Unexpected outage runtime depends on remaining energy and your loads.

Overrides, withdrawal and repayment

Event overrides are permitted for health, safety, emergency or critical backup-power purposes—not unrestricted nonparticipation. Excessive overrides or disconnection can lead to removal.

Leaving the program can accelerate the outstanding on-bill repayment balance and can require rebate repayment during the first five years. The 84-month control term is not a statement of the financing repayment schedule.

Read the official customer terms and conditions and PSE&G's program FAQ. PSE&G determines acceptance, eligibility, funding and financing. Customers contract directly with EVCIA for equipment and installation; PSE&G does not endorse a particular contractor.

Before you choose equipment

GridSmart battery questions

Do I need solar panels?

No. GridSmart permits qualifying batteries with or without solar. Solar hardware is not covered by its rebate or on-bill repayment.

Who can qualify?

Current terms require a PSE&G residential electric or dual-fuel account in good standing, at least 12 months of billing history at the enrolled address, an AMI-compatible meter, Wi-Fi, a new approved battery installed through a participating contractor, and compliance with participation requirements. PSE&G gas-only service is not enough. We review the details before representing you as eligible.

Can an existing or leased battery qualify?

Previously installed batteries and leased batteries are not currently eligible. If you already have storage and want to add equipment, tell us about it so we can review the actual new scope with the program.

Is the $25,000 another rebate?

No. Up to $25,000 in eligible remaining costs may qualify for interest-free on-bill repayment under a separate agreement. It is financing that must be repaid, not an additional incentive. The rebate is applied to the contractor invoice, not paid as a utility-bill credit or check.

What happens during a GridSmart Event?

PSE&G may signal your battery to power your home during peak-demand events. The current limit is up to 100 events per year, up to four hours each. Terms call for commercially reasonable efforts for notice and a 20% reserve unless the customer changes it. Events are not called during outages. Actual backup duration depends on the system, remaining charge and loads.

Can I opt out or leave the program?

Event overrides are allowed for health, safety, emergency or critical backup-power purposes. Repeated or excessive overrides may result in removal. Current terms grant program control for 84 months. Withdrawal can make an outstanding on-bill repayment balance due and can require rebate repayment during the first five years. Read the official terms before enrolling.

How much does installation cost?

We prepare a property-specific proposal after reviewing backup goals, approved equipment, electrical work, installation conditions and program requirements. The proposal separates project cost, any eligible rebate and customer payment or approved repayment options. No generic runtime or bill-savings promise is assumed.

Does this website form apply to PSE&G?

No. It requests an eligibility review from EVCIA. After reviewing the project and obtaining the required authorization, we submit the actual program application on your behalf. Installation inspection is required before enrollment is finalized. Funding, financing and acceptance are not guaranteed.
